In the last newsletter we have appealed for a Vosseler photo contest.

We have asked you, dear readers, to send us your best picture on the subject " around fly fishing ".

We have received a lot of great pictures, and thank you rather warmly for your participation.

The winner is: Mr. Kevin Alt - who has sent us the nicest picture. Mr. Kevin Alt has won an original Vosseler fly reel.

We congratulate him moreover over again rather warmly and wish him a lot of fun with the Vosseler fly reel.

18th of June 2007: The Italians visited Vosseler Pro-Flyfishing

Marica Cicoria and Alberto Salvini, also known as "The Italians", visited us at the beginning of June for 10 days and took some overwhelming photos and videos at the Vosseler private waters. These video will be part of the film "Pescaventura" that is going to appear on Skychannel. Additionally, they've taken amazing pictures of the firm and the employees at Vosseler Pro-Flyfishing in Talheim.

Marica Cicoria and Alberto Salvini concentrate on flyfishing and nearly our complete photomaterial used for print- and webdesign is taken by them.

They did flyfishing-trips to Mongolia, the Seychelles and West USA this year and have sent us the best pictures, they have taken while their travel. You can have a look at these beautiful photos on our websites.

1st of June 2007: Fly Tying Vice nominated for "Designpreis 2008"

The Vosseler fly tying vice "Unique" which has received the "red dot product design award 2007" lately, has been nominated for the "Designpreis 2008".

The nomination was submitted by the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology in Berlin.

The "Designpreis of the Federal Republic of Germany" is the only official German design award and is organised by a special board of design. You cannot apply for this price of design, the products are nominated by the Ministers of Economic Affairs or by the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology.

Thus, the "Designpreis" is the price of prices!

14th of May 2007: Sandy River Spey Clave USA

Our Winston-expert Andre Scholz travelled through the United States and did spey casting presentations at the Sandy River Spey Clave. More than 300 spey enthusiasts attended these presentations.

But what is the Sandy River Spey Clave?

It is a meeting for fly fisher interested in spey casting taking place at the Sandy River, which is a sidearm of the Columbia River. The fly fisher got the chance to talk about their experiences in spey casting and fly fishing in common. Therefore, this meeting can be considered as a "free casting school for everybody". There are several on-side spey casting performances and the fly fisher had the chance to match with the best spey casters and steelhead specialists of the world.

Lots of people were attracted by the event and there were more than 1,000 interested fly fisher at the Sandy River to extend their knowledge in spey casting.

Therefore the Sandy River Spey Clave is also called the "Woodstock of Spey Casting"!

And the winner is…

The Vosseler Tying Vice "Unique" receives "red dot" for superior design quality.

For its outstanding design the tying vice by Vosseler Pro-Flyfishing has now received one of the most coveted design prizes worldwide: the ‘red dot’. This quality seal for good design is awarded annually in the international ‘red dot design award’ competition by a jury of experts and only goes to products with a particularly sophisticated and innovative design.

A suction-cup base holds this vice safely even on smooth surfaces. Once the base is fixed, the Vosseler tying vice can be rotated from five axis points. The patented jaws securely hold the hook on four sides, allowing for ample lateral thread tension. Crafted from surgical steel and high-grade aluminium, the Vosseler tying vice is as tough as it is versatile. Use it on the dining table without leaving a mark, stick it to the side of your truck for some evening tying in camp, or secure it to the casting platform of a flats boat.
The product assessment is carried out by an international jury of renowned design experts. They examine and test the products and assess them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility and clarity of function. This year, companies from 43 countries with a total of 2,548 products faced the jury’s verdict.

The award ceremony will take place on 25 June 2007 in the Essen Aalto Theatre in front of more than 1,000 guests. Following the ceremony, the Vosseler Tying Vice “Unique” will first be presented with the other award-winning products in a special exhibition, before it will then be exhibited in the red dot design museum, the largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide, for the duration of one year.
